Kati. Blada and hopskotch..Do you remember?

Private-jinx?*pinches* embeumbe mbeumbe......*puuuuuuulll up* cinderella dressed in yellow..*DJ rewind selector...* sabina sabina......Hi hex and smelling dirty stinking socks..heh heh, oh those good old days; do you remember? Back when playing was the highlight of your life? Back when we were kids and barely judged one another as we tried to get our banos into the pill? Oh those good old days (A poem should be written :) And the best thing about it all is that discussing it never gets old? Even when you meet people your age for the first time and you start exchanging tales of your adventures as a kid, you instantly click and laugh yourselves silly even as you silently reminisce on the good old days. So do you remember?
Oh, I do. I remember living in the suburbs (AHEM!) of Langata and my neighbor Sam was assigned the prestigious role of waking us all up by knocking our gates at 8:00 am on Saturdays and holidays to begin a fun-filled day. We always used to pity those kids who had some serious harsh mboches who chase you away when you try to hala at them and all they can do is watch amid tears from their upstairs windows #massionettes lol Oh I miss those moments when we would start drawing lines for Shake depending on how many participants there were; inclusive of the Helper; and do you remember Danger Box #respect  and the best was “Double line free pass, double line free pass…”*sigh*
And who can ever forget brikicho aka hide and seek? Those golden moments you find an awesome hiding place and when everyone else has been found and you are still being looked for since your hiding place was that awesome; guys just decide it ain’t worth it and they start a new round? LOL; kids are mean!!!! :-) and what of those times many of you hide in two separate parts of the estate and when the searcher (after ‘which part of my body did I touch you with’?) part, starts looking for you and your all shouting his/her name for confusion purposes?;) *sigh*
Pekele!!!!heh heh; that moment you are just about to reach the end and the person next hits you and you have to begin again? When bottle tops were not only used to make cardboard cars!!The good old days:0 Bano was a close relative to this and marbles were a treasure nakwambia; when boys and girls played all games together.
Hop Scotch those days had some serious rules; kwanza kicking stone! Sijui no touching down until you finish nininini Remember akina ‘Bata? Press bata? Those days your verandas had numbers written all over the boxes ;)
Kati should be a sport played at all sport get-togethers, ama? Those days we had the moves and even in school we waited for break time, lunch time and home-time to be able to show off our new ‘njaros’’. It was always funny when the boys decided to join; it made it so much more exciting. What about Rounders? The localization of baseball, hehe, wherever we used to toa those tennis balls only God knows and it was so important to be in the stronger team where dudes hit the ball with the bat so hard it took forever to find the balls while teammates did the running. Many balls were lost. Then hooky (sp) ; a combination of kati and rounders #creativity. Fun times I tell you.
And all those other fun games like Blada where tyre tubes(when we were not riding on them) were very essential and ability to jump was paramount; exchangers dunda…………..;) Akina kalongo, when blueband and kimbo tins had true meaning!
There were those lighter moments when we just played kina, ‘Sabina Sabina nampenda Sabina’, ‘Mwalimu Kenya anatafuta…’, Cinderella dressed in yellow went upstairs to kiss a fellow by mistake,..’, ‘concnetration concentration obligation names of..boys please; for example’,  e.t.c.
Oh let me stop there for now; catch you later I have to go play,….* my mother and your mother were washing the clothes, my mother gave your mother a punch on the nose…….*
